Update at 19:00, 17/01/2026

We’re extremely sorry to all customers who currently have no water or low pressure. Here we summarise the areas where there are currently or have been interruptions recently, a summary of what’s happening and where you can get more regular updates.

We know how tough it is to be without water and this is not the level of service we want to provide. We are using every available resource to water supplies; from fixing leaks to rerouting water around our network.

For all customers, please make sure your taps are turned off while there is no water. This is to prevent flooding when your water supplies are restored.

Cloudy or discoloured water

As our network refills, you may experience low pressure or intermittent supplies. You may also see some discoloration in your water.

Why is my water discoloured?

The discolouration is caused by naturally occurring iron and manganese deposits in our pipes. These deposits are harmless, but they can get stirred up when there's a change in water pressure. This can make the water look cloudy or brown.

What should I do?

If your water is discoloured, please run your cold kitchen tap until it runs clear. It can then be used for drinking, washing and cooking as normal.

Bottled water stations

Two walk in bottled water sites are at:

  • Bidborough Village Hall, Bidborough, TN3 0XD
  • Harrietsham Village Hall, Church Rd, Harrietsham, Maidstone ME17 1AP

We've now opened two new stations that will be close at 10pm:

  • Mote Park Leisure Centre, Mote Park, Maidstone, ME15 7RN
  • Headcorn Aerodrome, Shenley Rd, Ashford TN27 9HX

Kent Interruptions

Headcorn, Kingswood, Coxheath, Harrietsham and the surrounding villages

  • Customers in Headcorn, Kingswood, Coxheath, Harrietsham and surrounding villages are experiencing no water or low pressure until tomorrow. This is because of an electrical fault at our water treatment works in the area. Normally a fault like this wouldn’t cause an interruption to supply, however it has on this occasion because we have lower water levels in our drinking water storage tanks which supply the area, following the high level of leaks and bursts recently. We have fixed the problem at our site and are now working to refill the storage tank. Bottled water stations are open until 10pm. Our customer care teams are out delivering bottled water to customers most in need on our Priority Services Register. Stay up to date here(opens in a new tab).

Tunbridge Wells

  • Farmcombe Road, Tunbridge Wells - We're repaired the burst pipe and customers should start to have a normal water supply. View all updates here(opens in a new tab).
  • We are continuing to move water around the network to balance the system, while tankers are continuing to pump water directly into the storage tanks to further stabilise the amount of water available in the area. This will continue today. Our leak repair teams are out and about around the clock fixing leaks and bursts which are impacting the network. Our Water Supply Director, Douglas Whitfield explains how the Tunbridge Wells system works below:

Tonbridge

  • Bidborough and surrounding areas - Some properties continue to experience intermittent supplies as a result of low water levels in the drinking water storage tank that supplies the area. A tanker is being used to inject directly into the network to support water supply whilst the storage tank replenishes. Stay up to date here(opens in a new tab).

Whitstable

  • Radfall area - We're pleased to say the pumps have been restarted and customers should now see their taps flowing as normal. You can view all updates here(opens in a new tab).
