Chipstead Park water network set for upgrade
South East Water will soon be installing around 600 metres of new pipeline to upgrade the water network in Chipstead Park, Sevenoaks.
The drinking water supplier will start work on Monday, 13 October, with the project expected to take around four months to complete.
South East Water Project Manager, Jeremy Dufour, said: “This is an important project for us to upgrade our network.
“The water pipes in this area have burst four times in the last four years, which has meant low pressure and at times, no water for our customers.
“This is not acceptable to us and we’re sorry to our customers who have been affected by this. We’re always working to reduce the number of leaks and bursts and by carrying out this work now, we will be strengthening our network and increasing resilience.
“As with any work, we know there may be some disruption for residents and businesses locally and we apologise for this, but please be assured we will work as quickly and safely as possible to try to finish the project sooner and minimise disruption.
“Work will take place during normal working hours, but there may also be some activity at evenings and weekends.”
As a safety precaution for pedestrians, motorists and the workforce, small sections of Chipstead Park and Chipstead Park Close will be closed at different stages of the project. During this time, customers may need to access their properties via a different direction along Chipstead Park.
