Work: Making connections to our network
Starts: Monday 22 September
Duration: Approx. five weeks
Investment: £100,000
What’s going to happen and when?
We’re making a series of vital new water pipe connections in the ground along Pound Lane and St Peters Lane.
We’ll be starting work on Monday 22 September 2025. We expect the work to take approximately five weeks excluding the planned pause. We’ll do our best to get the work done faster if we can.
This work will be split into three phases:
- Phase One: We’ll be working on Pound Lane near the entrance to The Pound. We expect this work to last approximately two weeks. Our first phase will not require any additional closures as we’ll be able to complete this section of work under the existing roadworks.
- Phase Two: We’ll be setting up further down Pound Lane near St. Radigunds Bridge and the entrance to St Peters Lane. We expect this section of work to take about one week. In order to ensure the safety of pedestrians and our workforce during our second phase of work, we’ll need to install traffic lights on this section
- Phase Three: At a later date, our team will return to the area in order to complete the final connections on the other end of St Peters Lane, near The Cricketers Pub. We’ll update you with the details of this final phase of the project closer to the time but this is expected to be a road closure after Christmas.
Getting to and from your property
You will be able to get to and from your home or business during this work. You may have to wait occasionally if we’re working directly outside the entrance to your property just while our team makes the area safe for you to get by. The direction you enter from may not be your usual route or it may change as we move along the road.
Your water supply
We may need to turn your water off for a short time when we connect our new pipes to the existing network. We’ll put a card through your door to let you know if this is going to happen at least 48 hours beforehand, so you can plan ahead.
This webpage will be updated as work progresses.
