Work: Installing 290m of water pipes to reinforce the network

Starts: Monday, 12 January, 2026

Duration: Approximately seven weeks

We’ll soon be replacing around 290 metres of water pipes in Kentish Gardens, Tunbridge Wells.

As you may already know, there have been issues with discolouration with the water in your area in recent years, and we are sorry for this.

We’re always working to improve the quality of the water we provide. With this in mind, we’re going to be making some improvements to the water network in your community.

What’s going to happen and when?

We’re going to replace around 290 metres of water pipes in Kentish Gardens.

We’ll be starting work on Monday, 12 January, 2026. Our teams will work weekdays and some Saturday mornings. We may also work on some Sundays.

We expect the work to take approximately seven weeks. We’ll do our best to get the work done faster if we can.

Will there be roadworks?

We’re sorry for the disruption this work is going to cause, we know it’s inconvenient. We’ll do our absolute best to keep it to a minimum.

We’ll be setting up temporary three-way traffic lights on the junction of Kentish Gardens and Broadwater Down. This is to keep pedestrians, drivers and our teams safe while we carry out the work.

In addition, there will be priority working in place (give and take) during the course of our project, with advance warning signs in place.

Frequently asked questions

Customers will be able to get to and from their home or business during this work. There may be a short wait if we’re working directly outside the entrance to a property, just while our team makes the area safe for customers to get by.

We may need to turn the water off for a short time when we connect our new pipes to the existing network. We’ll let customers know if this is going to happen at least 48 hours beforehand, so they can plan ahead.

If any customers are likely to need any extra support during the work, they can join our Priority Services Register.

We have all sorts of services to help if needed. For example, if anyone is struggling financially, has an illness or disability or is looking after a child under five.
