We’re always working to reduce the number of leaks and bursts we have across our network and ensure we continue to supply top quality drinking water.
With this in mind, we’re planning to make some improvements to reinforce the water network in the Graveney and Goodnestone areas of Kent.
What's going to happen and when?
We have decided to defer our planned works to reinforce our network along Head Hill Road.
The works, which included a rolling road closure along Head Hill Road, were scheduled to start on Thursday, 27 August, 2026.
This will no longer be the case and we're working to find suitable alternative options to deliver the project, which will be communicated in due course.
Public event
We held a drop-in event for the local community to meet with us and discuss the project on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

It is clear from the concerns raised locally that this project will significantly impact the community, particularly given the recent history of roadworks in the area.
We know roadworks are inconvenient at any time, but this is particularly true for a community that has recently experienced disruption.
During our attendance at the meeting of Graveney with Goodnestone Parish Council on Monday (13 July), we listened to the concerns raised and we have now decided to defer the works to a later date.
We are committed to working with the community to minimise the impact of the works, which are still required to help reinforce our network.
We still need to carry out the work to help meet the current and future demand in the area, and reduce the risk of further bursts and leaks, but we are exploring alternative options to try and minimise disruption.
We will continue to liaise with Kent County Council's Highways team to discuss potential alternative dates for the work, and we'll communicate any revisions to you, once confirmed.
We’re sorry for the disruption this work is going to cause; we know it’s inconvenient. We’ll do our absolute best to keep it to a minimum.
