Work on a scheme to install a new 1.2 kilometre water main is taking place on Lucastes Lane from the junction of Lincoln Wood down to the end of Sherwood Drive and also including Lucastes Lane to the west of the junction.
Work is also taking place in Foxwarren and Badger Drive.
If possible, we will be using directional drilling techniques which involves excavating a series of pits where the pipe will run between then drilling the new water pipe underground. This is the quickest way to install the new pipe.If this is not achievable then traditional trenching techniques will be used.
As a safety precaution for pedestrians, motorists and our contractor there will be signs and barriers around the working area indicating the priority for traffic flows. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
Construction is planned to start on Monday 7 February 2019 and the project is expected to take approximately 28 weeks to complete, however our contractor’s staff will work hard to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.
Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at weekends.
There may be a short interruption to the water supply during this scheme as we connect our new pipe to the existing network. However we will write to customers at least 48 hours in advance of this taking place.
Our contractor is Clancy Docwra and if you have any concerns during the work staff on site will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. If you would like to speak to South East Water direct please call our Customer Technical Centre on 0333 000 1100.

Update Wednesday 13 February, 2019
Preparations for this scheme are now underway with our contractors setting up their compound and excavating the first trial holes to ascertain whether the ground conditions will be suitable for the proposed directional drilling method of installing the new water main.
Update Monday 1 April, 2019
We continue making progress with a further 50 metres of main laid last week in Lincoln Wood. However, the hardening ground conditions mean we now have to employ traditional open cut trenching methods which will slow our rate of progress.
