Ardingly Reservoir in East Sussex during the drought in 2011-2012

Read our drought plan 2013

Our 2013 drought plan sets out what steps we would take to deal with a drought to ensure we could deliver a reliable water supply.

It details what actions we would take to conserve water and secure customers’ supplies, while balancing the needs of the environment.

These actions include moving water around our network, fast-tracking schemes to increase water resources, promoting sensible water use and the introduction of temporary water use restrictions.

Our latest plan, the drought plan 2013, was updated following the introduction of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 by Parliament.

This Act allows water companies to introduce temporary water restrictions (formerly hosepipe bans) at their discretion, following a notice period.

To ensure the plan is right for our area we sought the views of our customers and key stakeholders and this helped shape the final drought plan.

We're now consulting on our draft drought plan and you can give your feedback to input into a new plan to be published in December 2017.
