Temporary measures to protect members of the public from the spread of COVID-19 have been announced by South East Water.
The water company has suspended all parking at its reservoir sites as well as activities like fishing and sailing.
Footpaths around the company’s Arlington Reservoir in Polegate, East Sussex, and Ardingly Reservoir, West Sussex, are accessible.
However, the company urged walkers to maintain social distancing guidelines by keeping at least two metres (six feet apart).
Emma Goddard, Head of Environmental, said: “These measures are very much temporary and while we are really sorry for any inconvenience they may cause, we must prioritise the safety of our customers and our workforce.
“If you go for a walk or run around any of our reservoirs, please ensure you stick to the social distancing guidelines which are there for your safety.
“Please also be mindful that facilities like the café and toilets at Arlington will not be available until further notice. The activity centre and toilets at Ardingly reservoir are also closed.”
South East Water will continue to monitor the Government’s guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19 and will resume reservoir activities once it is safe to do so.
