After drilling our first section of new main in last week, we are now preparing for the next four 100 metre sections of water main to be installed.
We will be starting to drill the first section of new main between our launch and receive pits this week.
As a result of our trial holes carried out, we have now found a suitable route for the new main to go over the bridge.
This week we started digging our launch and receive pits ahead of drilling our first section of new main underground between these two pits.
We have set up our storage compound area and have began work on trial holes across the bridge.
These trial holes will help us to determine the best possible route for the new main to be installed underground, avoiding other utilities.
Work due to begin.
As part of an ongoing programme to improve our water supply network we are installing 970 metres of new water main along Grove Hill, Hellingly.
The old, unreliable main has burst multiple times in the last five years and by replacing this section we will reduce the likelihood of future disruptive repairs and further bursts.
The project is due to begin on 20 September and will take approximately 13 weeks to complete. for the duration of the work we will be closing Grove Hill from Knightsbridge Farm to the junction with Cinderford Lane.
This will be carried out under a rolling road closure and the new main will be installed in sections with the road being returned to its original state, before the work moves along to the next section.
A diversion route for the road closure will be in place as agreed with the local highway authority.
Replacing this water main will secure the top-quality drinking water supplies to the area for years to come.
